Derby County are flying in the Championship — and striker Carlton Morris joined an exclusive group of top-four-tier goalscorers last weekend.

The Rams have now won five on the bounce under John Eustace, who will have been especially pleased to leave former club Blackburn with all three points.

Morris opened the scoring in a 2-1 victory at Ewood Park, the powerful former Norwich and Luton forward climbing highest to head home from a corner. Patrick Agyemang made it 2-0 before the break, and although Yuki Ohashi pulled one back from the penalty spot, Derby held firm to seal another valuable win.

Captain Morris has now scored in each of his last four outings, with his latest header moving him level with Coventry’s Brandon Thomas-Asante at the top of the Championship scoring charts.

Even more impressively, Morris has joined an exclusive quartet of players across The 92 to reach double figures for league goals this season.

Alongside Morris and Thomas-Asante, Man City talisman Erling Haaland leads the way with 14 Premier League strikes, while Swindon’s Aaron Drinan has also reached 10 in League Two.

Next up for the Rams, after the international break, is a home clash with Watford — and Eustace’s men will fancy their chances, with the Hornets still searching for their first away win of the campaign.
