It’s said that it only takes a second to score a goal, but how about six seconds into a game? That’s exactly what Christoph Baumgartner has done for Austria against Slovakia.
The 24-year-old attacking midfielder received the ball in the tip-off on the halfway line and decided to embark on an early run at goal.
After skipping past several defenders, he got within striking range and arrowed a low fierce strike past Slovakia keeper Martin Dúbravka, stunning everyone in attendance in the process.
Andi Weimann sealed the win for the Austrians with eight minutes to go as their EURO 2024 preparation got off to a fine start.
