Bayer Leverkusen confirm that Edmond Tapsoba has returned from the 2025 Africa Cup of nations with a muscular injury, and is expected to be sidelined for the next two to three weeks.

Tapsoba’s Burkina Faso were eliminated from the tournament in Morocco, losing 3-0 against Ivory Coast in the Round of 16. The 26-year-old central defender featured in each of his country’s four games, playing the full 90 minutes.

Prior to Tapsoba’s call-up to the national team, the 2024 Bundesliga winner featured the full 90 minutes in each of Leverkusen’s first 14 Bundesliga matchdays, where he’s forming an excellent defensive partnership alongside summer arrivals Jarrell Quansah and Loic Bade.

How many games could Edmond Tapsoba miss?

Should Tapsoba miss three weeks, then the Burkinabe will miss a handful of games for Leverkusen: Hoffenheim, Olympiacos, Werder Bremen, Villarreal, Eintracht Frankfurt and St. Pauli, while Bayer’s Bundesliga clash against Borussia Monchengladbach could be a push to be fit for.
