Earlier this month, Samu Omorodion’s move to Chelsea collapsed at the 11th hour. The Premier League side are said to have attempted to change the terms of their agreement with the 20-year-old striker, which caused him to walk away. He has since returned to Atletico Madrid, although there’s no guarantee that he will remain at the club by the end of the summer transfer window.
Diego Simeone is currently overflowing with attacking options. Summer signings Alexander Sorloth and Julian Alvarez have been added to Antoine Griezmann, Angel Correa and Giuliano Simeone. That would make Samu 5th/6th choice, so if he were to stay, he wouldn’t play many minutes.
It means that Atleti would look to sell Samu if the right offer were to arrive. A move to Germany could be a possibility, with Relevo reporting that Bayer Leverkusen have enquired about his availability. As well as this, Borussia Dortmund are also monitoring the situation.
Samu is highly valued at Atletico Madrid, and club bosses are aware that he has great potential. However, his sale would allow a new left-sided central defender to be signed – a necessary addition following the departure of Mario Hermoso. It remains to be seen how this situation plays out in the coming weeks.
