Everywhere in Liverpool all you can hear is one name echoing around the city - Florian Wirtz.

For a long time, the Reds were synonymous with one German and one German only in Jurgen Klopp. But now it feels like just around 12 months after his departure, Liverpool are getting a new German sensation.

Wirtz is not just any kind of sensation either. If Klopp was one of the best managers to have ever emerged from the country, Wirtz is certainly one of the biggest talents.

He broke several Bundesliga records before he had even turned 20-years-old. Wirtz became the youngest to score in the Bundesliga, the youngest to score five goals and the first to score more than 10 goals before his 19th birthday.

Now he's won back-to-back Bundesliga Players' Player of the Season awards and he also led Bayer Leverkusen to the Bundesliga title, going undefeated with Xabi Alonso.

It makes sense why Liverpool are prepared to go all out in order to sign him.

This is not a simple transfer to pull off either. After all, the club is seeking to break its transfer record. The last time they did that with Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool's initial attempts fell through.

They had to wait six months in order to land him in the January transfer window.

There are no expectations that this time around something similar will happen with Wirtz. Both sides are confident they are going to come to an agreement.

However, some fans around the club have been a little impatient and worries have arisen from a small section that a deal might through, just merely because it's taking a little longer than usual.

Speaking to DAZN Germany, Rudi Voller who works in an unofficial role at Bayer Leverkusen and played a key role in recruiting Wirtz many years ago, opened up about the negotiations and when we could potentially see an agreement being struck.

"It's no secret that [Florian Wirtz] would like to go to Liverpool," Voller said.

"I know the clubs are negotiating with each other, [but with] transfers like this, it often takes a while before an agreement is finally reached.

"Sure, in the end you have the feeling that it will go through. Florian Wirtz has proven that he is a very, very valuable player. Not only for Bayer Leverkusen, but also for the national team. That's why he costs a few euros more."

Voller's words give an insight into the negotiations and the timeline. It's clear that based on what he is saying this is a perfectly natural state of play.

Leverkusen are holding out for a 'few 'euros more' before the can reach an agreement with Liverpool, and only then will the transfer go through.

So, that might take a while, but there is nothing to worry about. Everything is going according to plan and sooner or later Wirtz will be a Liverpool player.
