Nine players from the FC Bayern campus have made their professional debuts under Vincent Kompany this season. But which of these talents can really hope to play a lasting role in the first-team squad? An assessment
Filip Pavic (16), Erblin Osmani (16), Wisdom Mike (17), Cassiano Kiala (17), Maycon Cardozo (17), Lennart Karl (18), Felipe Chávez (18), Deniz Ofli (18) and David Santos Daiber (19): the list of debutants is remarkably long. This is particularly striking when you look back over the past few years, as it has long been extremely difficult for young players at FC Bayern to get any minutes at all with the professionals. That has visibly changed this season
In view of the constantly rising transfer fees, this is only logical. For top clubs, their own talents are no longer just an identity factor, but also a strategic component of modern squad planning. According to several reports, FC Bayern is internally pursuing the goal of filling a larger part of the professional squad with players from its own academy in future, while high sums are only to be invested in absolute top stars
Max Eberl also underlined this approach at the end of last year: „We decided in the summer that we wanted to give Wisdom Mike, Lennart Karl and Cassiano Kiala a chance. (…) It is clear that we are building on the campus. The campus has done a very good job. We have a lot of lads who train with us regularly.“
The outward impression is of a club that is once again taking its underpinnings more seriously and wants to strengthen the permeability between campus and professionals. However, professional appearances at FC Bayern are naturally also associated with an increase in market value. Just a few minutes on this stage are enough to permanently change the perception of a talent and noticeably improve their position on the transfer market
Nine debuts may send a strong signal to the outside world, but internally the situation is likely to be assessed in a much more differentiated way, as the decisive factor is not only who has already been able to collect minutes with the professionals, but above all how the individual talents are actually ranked within the club. According to FCBinside information, there is a clear internal ranking list for the young talents

The prime example from Bayern’s point of view is without question Lennart Karl. The 18-year-old moved to the campus from Aschaffenburg in 2022, went through the U15 to U19 ranks there and made the leap to the pros in the current season. There he immediately knew how to draw attention to himself
With eight scoring points in the Bundesliga and four goals and two assists in the UEFA Champions League, Karl has clearly come to the fore. The equalizer against FC Arsenal underlined why he is one of the biggest talents in Europe. At FC Bayern, he is expected to play a key role in future plans

Filip Pavic made his professional debut against Atalanta BC. At 16 years, 1 month and 27 days, he is the youngest player FC Bayern has ever fielded in the Champions League. Internally, Pavic is regarded as one of the most promising talents on campus. He is captain of the Germany U16 national team. He has a profile that is particularly in demand in modern top-flight soccer: tall, energetic in tackles and strong on the ball. Pavic remains calm under pressure, plays opening passes and takes on responsibility at a young age. It is precisely this mix that makes him so interesting
Cassiano Kiala, on the other hand, suffered a serious setback when the centre-back suffered an ankle injury during the Algarve Cup with the U17 national team. After ten appearances for the U19s, two games for the amateurs and his professional debut against 1. FC Heidenheim, this injury came at the worst possible time
Nevertheless, Kiala remains a player with great potential. The coming months are likely to be decisive for him. It will then become clear how quickly he can get back into rhythm after his injury and how his position in the internal rankings will develop. There are many indications that FC Bayern will only have room for one of the two top talents in this position in the long term: Pavic or Kiala

Wisdom Mike is the name from the group that Max Eberl publicly highlighted before the season, so it was clear early on that he had been shown prospects at the club. However, the 17-year-old’s season has been anything but ideal so far. Although he has already made four Bundesliga appearances, Mike has not really been able to make the most of these opportunities
His performances have often been too playful, erratic and at times over-motivated. He has also been guilty of an off-field misdemeanour, which saw him drop out of the squad for several games, as well as a hip muscle injury and subsequent withdrawal from the season. There is little doubt about his talent, but that is precisely why Mike is now under particular scrutiny. There is undoubtedly potential for the Bundesliga, but it seems more than doubtful that he will make it to FC Bayern in the long term
Felipe Chávez plays a special role in this category. He made his debut for FC Bayern this season, but is now playing for another club. In the winter, Munich transferred him to 1. FC Köln, where he will initially play on loan until the end of the season. The Effzeh then have an option to buy him, while Bayern have secured buy-back rights for 2027 or 2028
Chávez has only made brief appearances in Cologne so far, so a final decision has not yet been made. Nevertheless, there is currently little to suggest that he would be integrated into Munich’s long-term plans even if he were to return. Instead, his profile looks more like that of a player who can establish himself at a good Bundesliga level without becoming a permanent solution at FC Bayern
Deniz Ofli is one of the most interesting cases among the debutants. The left-back benefited from the injuries to Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Ito and played 35 minutes in the second leg against Atalanta BC. He made an immediate impact, winning the ball in the 56th minute to make it 3-0
Some time ago, he would hardly have been expected to make the leap into this circle. This makes the development that Ofli has undergone in recent months all the more remarkable. Internally, he is now likely to be watched much more closely, but there does not seem to be a definitive assessment of him. A loan could be the most sensible next step, especially due to the high level of competition in his position. Ofli is therefore a player for whom much is still open in both directions

Maycon Cardozo probably has the most unusual story in this group. The 17-year-old first made the leap from the FC Bayern World Squad to the youth ranks and eventually even signed a professional contract. He then made his professional debut in the 4-1 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach
Cardozo is currently also benefiting from the fact that Wisdom Mike is out through injury, freeing up minutes for him. It would of course be a strong signal for the prestige of the World Squad project if Cardozo were to establish himself in the professional ranks at FC Bayern in the long term. Realistically, however, his path remains extremely difficult. As soon as the competition is fully available again, it will probably be very difficult for him to get regular minutes at this level

Erblin Osmani also made his debut for the German record champions on the last Bundesliga matchday against Union Berlin. The 16-year-old is at home in central midfield and has a strong left foot. Nevertheless, his appearance came as quite a surprise, as Osmani has not necessarily been perceived as an absolute exceptional talent in the German 2009 vintage so far
For this very reason, his debut is likely to have brought about one thing above all: increased attention. Anyone who collects minutes at FC Bayern automatically becomes more interesting for other clubs. In Osmani’s case, this effect could be particularly relevant
The situation is similar for David Santos Daiber. The Portuguese U19 international only recently signed a professional contract with FC Bayern and celebrated his debut in the 4-0 away win at Heidenheim. Daiber is an intelligent, assured and reliable midfielder who can bring structure to the game
Nevertheless, there is currently much to suggest that the talent spot in central midfield is likely to belong to Noah Aseko for the time being. Daiber’s debut has increased his visibility and also boosted his market value, but there is currently no clear prospect of a bigger future at FC Bayern. In addition, a muscle injury is also currently slowing him down. At the moment, he therefore looks more like a player who could be of interest to other clubs than a realistic future regular in Munich
The high number of debutants shows that FC Bayern is once again attaching more importance to its own campus. Nevertheless, not every debut should automatically be taken as evidence of a long-term perspective. While Lennart Karl clearly stands out and Pavic and Kiala also have real chances of more, other cases seem much more open or more market-strategic. This is precisely the core of this development: the campus is becoming more important, but not every debutant is also intended as a long-term solution.
