Liverpool will soon have to make a decision over Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian King, 33, is out of contract in 2027. But according to certain Liverpool insiders, the process of replacing Salah could begin in earnest next summer.
Of the contenders linked as a potential Salah successor, the most prominent name in recent weeks has been Michael Olise.
Liverpool are big admirers of the Bayern Munich playmaker - who enjoyed a stellar first Bundesliga campaign last season. Olise, 23, has started this season in sensational form too - with a clamour now developing back in England for his signature.
The France international was convinced to choose Bayern as his next destination back in 2024 - when he left Crystal Palace on a deal worth around £53m.
Given his rapid rate of progress in Munich, that sum looks an absolute bargain. Olise is under contract with FC Hollywood until 2029 - meaning any team desiring to sign him will have to part with well over £100m.

Bayern are scared about the prospect of losing their crown jewel - and talks are being planned over a new long-term contract. Liverpool will be hoping that Olise declines the opportunity to sign a new deal - instead returning to the Premier League.
There will be a gap for him on the right side of the attack in the next year or two - and he looks precisely the kind of superstar that Richard Hughes should be signing for the next phase of the club’s development.
Speaking to the Sky90 podcast in Germany, Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund revealed that there are plans to keep Olise under contract at the Allianz Arena until his 30s - and that the German record champions are pretty relaxed about the situation right now.
“We’re not under any pressure,” he said. “We can imagine him playing for Bayern for the next seven, eight, or nine years.
“Michael has a long-term contract, he proved himself and took steps forward.”
But of course Liverpool demonstrated with the signing of Alexander Isak that what they want these days they usually get.
If Olise shows no inclination of signing a new deal then Bayern will be forced into a decision regarding his future as that 2029 contract expiry date grows closer.
