The signs are pointing more and more clearly toward Harry Kane staying. Although the 33-year-old’s contract with FC Bayern expires in the summer of 2027, both sides are already working on an extension. New information from England now suggests that even without a quick agreement, he is not likely to leave.

As Football Insider reports, Kane is currently not considering a move in the summer of 2027 at all. According to the report, the striker’s camp is planning on at least one more season in Munich, regardless of when the contract extension is finalized.

For FC Bayern, this would be an important sign. After all, under his current contract, Kane could leave on a free transfer after the 2026–27 season. The fact that the Englishman apparently isn’t seeking this scenario takes some of the pressure off the ongoing negotiations.

Kane wants a new 3-year contract

Above all, the exact duration of the new contract still appears to be up in the air. Most recently, there had been repeated talk of an extension through 2029 or a deal with an additional option.

Football Insider now reports that the trend is toward a new three-year contract. This could tie Kane to the record champions through 2030. The striker would be 36 years old when the contract expires.

Lothar Matthäus also recently stated on Sky that he expects a longer contract term. “The question is whether it will be two or three years. Harry Kane would prefer a three-year deal. I think Harry will get his way because he’s simply earned that position.”

Bayern President Herbert Hainer also expressed confidence that an agreement will be reached. “He knows very well what he has at FC Bayern. And we, of course, know what we have in him. We want to extend his contract further, and I also think that’s how it will turn out.”

Premier League clubs remain interested

However, just because Kane feels at home in Munich doesn’t mean other top clubs aren’t keeping a close eye on the situation. Football Insider specifically mentions Manchester United. The Red Devils were already considering signing him back when he was at Tottenham.

A return to the Spurs is also reportedly still being discussed in England. Last summer, FC Barcelona was also linked to Kane. However, it’s said that nothing more than an initial contact took place, as the striker did not signal a desire to leave.

At the moment, therefore, there are many indications that Kane could continue his career at Bayern Munich for several more years. The Munich club is working on a contract extension; the player feels at home in Munich; and even if his current contract expires, according to the latest information, this would not mean a departure in the summer of 2027.

The most intriguing question in the contract negotiations thus seems to be less whether Kane will stay—and more how long he will commit to FC Bayern this time around.
