Bild’s Bayern Insider reports Bayern reached agreement with Lookman to cover for Harry Kane, but walked away rather than meet Atalanta’s valuation.

Max Eberl had sought a back-up to Kane last summer, and Lookman emerged as a concrete option.

Atalanta rejected a loan proposal and prioritised a €50 million sale, so the move collapsed.

Bayern instead loaned Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea for a staggering €16.5 million. For almost twice that, they could have competed strongly for Lookman in January. Jackson remains Kane’s deputy under Vincent Kompany and is frustrated by limited minutes.

The 28-year-old later joined Atlético Madrid in the winter window for €35 million and is now a regular starter, with around 500 minutes and seven goal contributions in nine games.
