Bayern could reignite interest in Wirtz in pursuit of Champions League glory at home | OneFootball

After failing to win the 2012 and 2025 editions of the Champions League at home, Bayern Munich are hoping it will finally work out on their third attempt, with the final taking place at the Allianz Arena again in 2028.

According to Bild, the fact that the Champions League final will be coming to Munich again will “certainly have an impact” on Bayern's transfer policy next summer.

One major transfer target that could return to the picture is Florian Wirtz, who Bayern Munich pushed hard to sign in the summer of 2025 before he opted to join Liverpool instead.

With Wirtz having struggled to live up to expectations at Anfield, a move could be on the cards for the Germany star if his performances don't improve as the season progresses.

As a result, Bayern could reignite their interest in Wirtz, although he would of course be expensive, having joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen for a reported fee of up to €136 million, including potential bonuses.

Other priorities for Bayern looking ahead to the final are to extend the contracts of star players Harry Kane and Michael Olise.

The Bavarians are in promising talks with Kane over an extension beyond 2027, and once a new deal for the England striker is secured, Olise could be next in line.

Olise, 24, remains under contract until 2029, but Bayern will likely look to extend his deal further to fend off interest from other top clubs and secure his long-term future at the Allianz Arena.
