Bayern Munich are exploring a surprise move for Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha in the summer transfer window.
The 17-year-old signed his first professional deal with Liverpool in September, and has a contract at Anfield until 2028.
The German champions are looking to bolster their attacking areas in the summer, and have earmarked Ngumoha as an option after missing out on Anthony Gordon.
According to reports from The Athletic, Ngumoha is aware of Bayern’s strong interest, but Bayern are yet to contact Liverpool.
Liverpool insist Ngumoha is not for sale, and they plan to bolster the attacking areas, rather than diminish them.
There is a feeling that Liverpool did not want to sign a new wide players a direct replacement after Luis Diaz was transferred to Bayern.
Ngumoha made 29 appearances across all competitions in 2025-26, contributing two goals and an assist.
Christian Falk has exclusively told CFBayern Insider that Rio Ngumoha fits the profile perfectly that Bayern are looking for at the moment.
After missing out on Gordon, Bayern are looking for a different type of profile – a young player with tremendous potential whom they can educate.
He will be a back-up behind Diaz or Harry Kane, and the Bayern board supports Max Eberl to get the transfer done.
Bayern now hope that the player is not too expensive, and that Liverpool would sell him.
The Bavarian giants have one of the best attacking units in Europe, but there are areas that need improvement.
Harry Kane and Serge Gnabry are both in their 30s, with the later only has a year left on his contract. Likewise, Diaz wil be 30 next year, which means, Bayern must start planning on the future right now.
Ngumoha was one of the bright sparks for the Reds last season, and it would be really difficult for Bayern to lure him away from Anfield.
There is an expectation that Ngomoha will be a first-choice winger under Andoni Iraola next season, and they see him a big part of their future.
It is understandable why Bayern want to bring a highly talented winger like him to the club, but unless they come up with a ridiculous transfer fee, the Reds are unlikely to sell him.
