Bayern are confident that Vincent Kompany will not leave the club, even if they complete a historic treble.

This comes amid some growing fears that Manchester City could swoop for their former player if Pep Guardiola departs in the summer.

The ex-Barcelona manager has been a little coy about his future at the Etihad, with his contract set to run until 2027.

Manchester City could try and poach Vincent Kompany

With yet another Bundesliga title under his belt – and the prospect of a treble to boot – we’d be far from surprised to see clubs test the waters for the young coach this summer.

“Now, he’s doing such a brilliant job, so it’s no surprise that the Belgian’s old club, Manchester City, still have him on the list for when Pep Guardiola heads off,” Falk exclusively informed CF Bayern Insider.

“There’s still a bit of fear in the club that if he’s winning everything, Man City will try to persuade him to trade Munich for Manchester.

“However, I was talking with the CEO of Bayern Munich, Jan-Christian Dreesen, and he said there was no chance of Kompany leaving this summer. He’s 100% certain that the former Burnley boss will stay for the foreseeable future.

“If Vincent Kompany signs a contract, it means he’s thought about his future long and hard, so Bayern Munich won’t sanction his exit. In the meantime, they hope Kompany doesn’t have any plans to leave the club, as if he ends up winning everything, there’s an argument to be made that he’s the best coach in Europe.”

That said, it remains to be seen whether or not Guardiola will seek pastures new at the end of what could be a Premier League-winning campaign for the legendary head coach.

Even assuming that the Sky Blues were to be on the hunt for new management this summer, who’s to say Kompany would be in any great hurry to leave?

He’s building a phenomenal side over at Säbener Straße. One blessed with the best forward line in Europe and with incredible young talent (like Lennart Karl and Tom Bischof) feeding through.

Winning the treble would be the start of something at Bayern

City, of course, may argue that their former protege may have achieved it all over in Munich were he to lift both the DFB Pokal and Champions League this season.

But why shouldn’t the Belgian wish to climb further up the ranks in Bayern’s illustrious history?

Two further trophies this season would see Vincent Kompany go level with Felix Magath (5) for silverware won.

Only two more would be required to match Pep Guardiola and Hansi Flick’s legacy (exceeding the former’s if a treble is achieved this term).

There’s an opportunity here, if the 40-year-old wants it, to carve out a legacy at one of Europe’s most prestigious clubs.

The City job can surely wait.
