FC Bayern wants to sign a top star in the summer. Now there has apparently been a secret meeting between his advisor and sporting director Max Eberl.
FC Bayern are serious in their pursuit of England defence star Marc Guehi – and sporting director Max Eberl is said to have already taken personal action. According to information from Sky, a secret meeting has taken place in recent days between Eberl and Guehi’s advisor Gordon Stipic.
According to the report, Eberl used the meeting to reaffirm the record champions‘ strong interest. The Bayern boss is said to have explained in detail how intensively the club has been monitoring and analysing the 25-year-old defender from Crystal Palace – and that they are keen to sign him on a free transfer next summer. Guehi’s contract in London expires in 2026, meaning he will be officially authorised to discuss a move with foreign clubs from January 2026.
The England international would be a highly interesting candidate for FC Bayern, especially in view of the uncertain future of Dayot Upamecano and Minjae Kim. According to Sky, Eberl sees Guehi as a strong, robust and tactically disciplined centre-back who would fit perfectly into Vincent Kompany’s system.
But the competition is fierce. In addition to Bayern, Real Madrid and Liverpool FC are also very specifically interested in Guehi. Both clubs are said to have sent scouts to Crystal Palace matches on several occasions. Liverpool in particular are considered to be persistent contenders, after the Reds wanted to sign the Englishman last summer.
Sky UK has already reported in the past that Bayern have a „definite advantage“ over English clubs – due to FA regulations that prohibit Premier League teams from discussing pre-contracts more than a month before the end of the contract. Foreign clubs such as Bayern or Real Madrid, on the other hand, are allowed to officially negotiate six months before the end of the contract.

The centre-back is considered one of the most sought-after defenders in Europe. Since his move from Chelsea FC in 2021, he has developed into the centre-back at Palace and now leads the team as captain. With consistently strong performances in the Premier League and convincing appearances in the England national team jersey, he has long since played his way into the focus of Europe’s elite.
For Max Eberl, one thing is clear: Guehi can become a central component in the Bayern defence of the future. The secret dialogue with his advisor shows just how serious the record champions are.
