Anthony Gordon’s agents are understood to have met with Bayern officials, reports Christian Falk.
The England international is reportedly the club’s top target ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Bundesliga champions are keen on reinforcing the left wing with cover for Luis Diaz. However, the England international would go a step further in reinforcing the entire forward line.
Gordon has registered 17 goals and five assists in all competitions this term (in 46 games).
Preliminary discussions between Gordon’s agency and the Bavarian giants are already taking place.
“It is TRUE: There was a meeting with Anthony Gordon’s agents. Gordon has an English agent and a German agent; the German one, Gordon Stipic-Wipfler (of Unique Sports Group), met with Max Eberl, Bayern’s head of sport, for the first round of talks. He’s working in Germany for the agency,” Falk exclusively informed CF Bayern Insider.
“Stipic-Wipfler, it’s worth noting, has a close connection to Eberl. They also held talks over the possible signing of Marc Guehi before Manchester City completed the deal. So, you see, they are trying everything to sign the Englishman. At the moment, it seems there are no problems between Anthony Gordon and Bayern Munich when it comes to trying to find a solution. There are some numbers in the air, but these haven’t been concretely negotiated.”
There’s a growing expectation that the former Everton star could be one of several players to be sacrificed this summer, as Newcastle aim to stay on the right side of Financial Fair Play.

From Bayern’s perspective, this would be an incredibly astute piece of business.
Not only can Gordon provide cover for Luis Diaz, Harry Kane and Michael Olise, but the Englishman’s availability is similarly guaranteed across an entire season.
Since signing for Newcastle in the January window of 2023, the 25-year-old has only missed 17 games for club and country. That equates to only 4.25 games missed through illness or injury per season.
It feels like a perfect transfer for Vincent Kompany’s men – but the truth is that the price tag on the table is anything but.
“That said, there could be a problem with the transfer fee Newcastle are looking for – especially if the Premier League club commits to a price tag of £80m [€92.6m]. At that point, it’s getting really, really difficult,” Christian Falk went on to add.
“The supervisory board at Bayern Munich would say they were thinking in the region of £60m [€69.4m]. I think this wouldn’t be a problem. But £80m would be too much.
“£60m with add-ons, or even a deal that would see a fee paid in increments over time, would perhaps be doable. But if Newcastle want the full fee up front, then things are getting complicated.”
Indeed, if Bayern Munich can’t find a way to structure the deal in a favourable way, it surely opens the door for the likes of Liverpool to swoop in for Anthony Gordon.
And what a shame that would be for a Bayern forward line that is steadily approaching a state of perfection.
