Bayern icon Rummenigge admits he opposed extending Eberl's contract | OneFootball

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that he did not vote for Max Eberl's contract extension during the last supervisory board meeting.

“I thought long and hard about whether I should vote ‘No’ on the contract extension with Max," the 71-year-old informed Abendzeitung.

"It was only during the meeting that I decided to abstain. I stand by that decision. For me it was important to make my decision independently. 

“I did not want to allow myself to be prejudiced by a recommendation made beforehand,” the supervisory board member added. 

Without revealing too much, Rummenigge also stressed that there were several things he did not like in the lead-up to the vote.

He said he had communicated his concerns internally to the board at the time, but ultimately the decision was made to extend Eberl's stay.
