Orlando Gill is one of the big surprises of the current World Cup. The Paraguayan national team goalkeeper has played his way into the spotlight with strong performances—and is now also being linked to FC Bayern. Now, his future appears to be gaining further momentum.
As transfer expert Matteo Moretto reports, the 26-year-old’s agent is traveling to Europe in the coming days to hold talks with several interested clubs. According to the report, clubs from Spain’s La Liga are first on the agenda.
Even before the World Cup began, Valencia CF is said to have been taking a close look at the 1.99-meter-tall goalkeeper. Now that interest could become more concrete.
Gill is currently under contract with the historic Argentine club CA San Lorenzo. His contract runs through the end of 2027. According to reports, San Lorenzo is demanding at least seven million euros for a transfer.
Most recently, *kicker* linked Orlando Gill to Bayern Munich. The trade magazine described the Paraguayan as an “exciting prospect” for the post-Manuel Neuer era.
Gill particularly caught the eye during Paraguay’s surprise World Cup victory over Germany. In the Round of 32, the goalkeeper delivered a strong performance over 120 minutes and emerged as the match-winner with his saves in the penalty shootout against Kai Havertz and Nick Woltemade.

Even though Jonas Urbig is considered the designated successor to Manuel Neuer within the club, the Munich-based team continues to monitor the international goalkeeper market.
In addition to Neuer and Urbig, Sven Ulreich is currently part of the first-team goalkeeping squad. While Neuer’s and Ulreich’s contracts expire after the 2026–27 season, Urbig remains under contract with the record champions through 2029. Added to this is young goalkeeper Leon Klanac, who is currently part of Bayern’s amateur squad.
In addition to Gill, Lukas Hornicek of Portuguese first-division club SC Braga is also being touted as a potential Bayern candidate.
According to the Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the Munich club has been monitoring the 23-year-old for quite some time. However, no concrete negotiations are reported to have taken place so far. A transfer would also be costly: Braga is said to be insisting on a release clause of 30 million euros and is simultaneously working on a contract extension with the Czech goalkeeper.
Whether Gill or Hornicek will actually become a concrete option for FC Bayern remains to be seen for now. What is certain, however, is that the Munich club is closely monitoring the market in preparation for the post-Manuel Neuer era.
