FC Bayern have made another personnel decision in the goalkeeping position. Daniel Peretz’s loan to Hamburger SV will end prematurely. However, a return to Munich is not planned. Instead, the Israeli international keeper will move to England, where he will continue his season with Southampton FC

As reported by Sky, the deal has been finalised. The 25-year-old is currently undergoing the obligatory medical check and will then sign a loan contract with the English second division club until the end of the current season. In the past few days, there have been increasing indications of this move

Peretz moved from Maccabi Tel Aviv to FC Bayern in the summer of 2023 and was supposed to develop further via loan spells. After a mixed first phase, he moved to Hamburger SV last summer. The loan was originally set for one year, but hardly brought any sporting progress

The goalkeeper did not make a single appearance for HSV in the league and only made two appearances between the posts in the DFB Cup. Both the player and those responsible in Munich were dissatisfied with this development. The consequence is now a premature termination of the loan and a new attempt in a different environment

Purchase option underlines Bayern’s farewell plan

The contractual structure of the new loan deal is particularly noteworthy. According to Sky, Southampton FC have secured a purchase option for the summer of 2026, which is said to be worth around eight million euros. FC Bayern paid around five million euros for Peretz two and a half years ago, while his current market value is estimated at around two million euros

This constellation makes it clear that Peretz no longer plays a role in the record champions‘ long-term plans. Around a year ago, the Munich club signed a new goalkeeper in Jonas Urbig, who is being developed internally as Manuel Neuer’s successor. For Peretz, the only option is to move on – and possibly leave Munich permanently.
