The German champions are oozing with confidence after 11 straight wins, and they dominated the entire first half, maintaining 64.3% of possession.

Vincent Kompany gave a Champions League debut to Lennart Karl, and the youngster repaid the faith with a cracking goal inside four minutes.

The youngster took the ball from Konrad Laimer in the middle of the park and then darted into the box by dribbling past players, and then unleashed a rocket, leaving Jackers no chance of saving that.

Alexander Pavlovic tried to curl an effort from distance, but he was really unlucky as it kissed the crossbar. Bayern did not take long to get the second goal, and it came from Harry Kane, who has now scored in eight consecutive games.

Luis Diaz spotted the run of Laimer into the box, and the left-back passed the ball into the path of unmarked Kane, who tapped in from close range.

Diaz was simply outstanding in the first half, and Brugge defenders had no idea how to stop him. The Colombian hurriedly moved into the box from the left-hand side and had a shot on target, which the keeper saved.

Karl nearly scored his second goal of the night after he dribbled past a few players inside the box, but his left-footed effort went agonisingly wide of the target.

In the 33rd minute, Diaz scored a beauty with his right foot, with Laimer claiming another assist.

Laimer nearly got a goal to his name, but the Brugge defender blocked his shot from close range. Brugge created few chances, and the best came from Tzolis, who managed to hit the ball from distance straight into the hands of Neuer.

Just before the stroke of halftime, Guerreiro played a lovely ball to Diaz in a 1-v-1 situation, but the Colombian could not convert the chance.

In the second half, Kane tried to curl the ball with his left foot inside the box, but it went just wide of the mark. The former Spurs striker was put on through on goal, but quite surprisingly, he failed to convert a one-v-one chance, as he tried to dink past the keeper.

Bayern created several half-chances involving Kane, but just couldn’t find the finishing touch.

Pavlovic, who had a fantastic game, tried to hit from a distance but couldn’t keep it on target, before Olise’s corner hit the outside of the post.

Olise cuts inside and had a shot on goal, saved by the keeper, but Jackson, on the rebound, failed to hit the target. Diaz struck cleanly with his left foot, but was saved on the goalline.

Laimer and Olise nearly combined, but the defender could only manage to hit the keeper. Jackson was alert, and he scored an easy open goal to make it 4-0.

Vincent Kompany, who signed a new contract this week, will be highly pleased with the performance and the result as Bayern win 12 games in a row in all competitions.

Here at CF Bayern Insider, we have rated the players out of 10.

Bayern Munich player ratings

Manuel Neuer (7) – The visitors mostly chased shadows throughout the game, but they did create a few good half-chances. Neuer was fantastic with his distribution, as he has done all his life, and ensured he kept a clean sheet.

Konrad Laimer (8) – Terrific. He made five recoveries, two clearances, and won four ground duels, but it was his forward movement and link-up play with Diaz and Olise that made a massive difference in the game. Plus, he recorded two assists.

Dayot Upamecano (7) – The Frenchman, whose contract is set to expire next summer, produced yet another assured performance at the back. The Frenchman carried the ball forward at times and had a shot on target as well.

Jonathan Tah (8) – What a signing he is proving to be! Solid with his passing (100% accuracy), he was a rock at the back, as he won all his aerial duels.

Raphaël Guerreiro (6) – The right-back nearly produced an assist for Diaz in the first half, and always looked to make forward passes (97% in the opposition half).

Joshua Kimmich (7) – The pass master produced a superb display in midfield, especially in the second half, as he completely ran the show. He made three key passes.

Aleksandar Pavlovic (7) – The 21-year-old was unlucky when his effort hit the crossbar. He tried another effort from distance in the second half, but couldn’t keep it on target. He made 103 passes on the night, of which 99% were accurate.

Michael Olise (6) – A bit of a subdued performance, considering the high standards he sets for himself every week. And yet he could have bagged a few assists and one goal to his name, but he had been a bit lucky.

Luis Diaz (8) – The Colombian has been a livewire for Bayern. He ran ragged the Dortmund defence at times and scored a special goal. He should have another in the second half.

Lennart Karl (9) – Man of the match. This kid is really special. The way he carried the ball forward before unleasing a thunderbolt – absolutely magnificent! Every time he touches the ball, he gives the feeling that he will do something special. Amazing talent.

Harry Kane (8) – Life. Death. Taxes. And Harry Kane scoring goals. He has now reached 20 goals this season. Once again, he was deeply involved in the game, but what really surprised was how he missed a one-on-one chance, reminding everyone that he is still a mere mortal.
