Bayern Munich are reportedly showing keen interest in signing Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read, but they could face competition from Arsenal and Manchester City.

The Gunners have made serious progress under Mikel Arteta in the past three seasons, and they are one of the favourites to win the Premier League.

The north London club are well-stocked in defence, but like any top club, they are always looking to bring in young talent.

According to a report from Florian Plettenberg, Read is high on Bayern’s shortlist for next summer.

The Dutch champions signed him for their academy in 2023 before promoting him to the senior squad. He has already made 13 appearances, contributing one goal and three assists for Robin van Persie’s side.

The Sky Germany journalist claims that Feyenoord have now been officially informed that talks have already taken place between Read’s camp and Bayern.

Read has a contract at the Dutch club until 2029, and is valued at around £22m-£30m.

The 19-year-old has been one of the standout players in the Eredivisie, and according to De Telegraaf, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Bayern are also vying for his signature.

Do Bayern need a new right back?

Bayern have Konrad Laimer, Sacha Boey, and Josip Stanisic as major options.

Unless the Bavarian giants are planning to shop out Boey next summer, it makes little sense to invest in another right-back.

There are suggestions that the youngster is seen as a long-term option behind Laimer, who has been exceptional this season.

Laimer, 28 has several years of quality football left in him, so it will be interesting to see whether Bayern make any concrete approach for Read next summer.

Likewise, Arsenal have Jurrien Timber, Ben White and Cristhian Mosquera as major options at right-back, and adding another player in the same position makes little sense.

The Gunners could plan to sell White next summer (or if he moves elsewhere), and in that case, there could be an opening for a new arrival.
