What Bayern Munich directors said about Ismael Saibari

Max Eberl, FC Bayern Board Member for Sport said: “We are delighted to have secured Ismael Saibari—one of the most exciting attacking players at this World Cup—for FC Bayern. Transfers like this don’t happen overnight; they are the result of forward-looking work.

“It was crucial that we positioned ourselves early, as we were aware of Ismael’s abilities and could outline a concrete future for him with us right from the start. Ismael Saibari will add quality and unpredictability to our attacking game.”

Christoph Freund, FC Bayern Sporting Director: “Ismael Saibari won three consecutive Dutch league titles with Eindhoven and has Champions League experience; he is now demonstrating at the highest level—during the World Cup—just how valuable he can be to a team.

“He is versatile, plays with intensity and courage, and possesses exactly the kind of hunger we want to see at FC Bayern. His goal-scoring threat and mentality will be a great asset to the team. Players like him are the reason fans come to the stadium.”

Isamel Saibari first reaction after joining Bayern Munich

Saibari said: “You dream of signing a contract with a club like FC Bayern even as a child—everyone knows it is one of the biggest clubs in the world. FC Bayern competes for major trophies like the Champions League every year, and I want to win as many titles as possible here.

“FC Bayern’s style suits me; I can play my game here and will work hard every day to help the team. Coach Vincent Kompany played a major role in my decision—I’m really looking forward to working together.”

Saibari recorded 42 goals and 29 assists in 142 competitive matches and won the Dutch league title and the Super Cup three times each, as well as the domestic cup twice. He was named the Netherlands’ “Footballer of the Year” this season.

Thanks to his heritage, Saibari holds Moroccan citizenship and has represented the reigning Africa Cup of Nations champions since 2023; he currently has 34 caps and 12 goals for the national team.

He scored the decisive goals in the 1–1 World Cup opener against Brazil, the 1–0 victory over Scotland, and the 4–2 win against Haiti, and he converted the final penalty in the Round of 32 victory over the Netherlands.
