Luis Diaz’s future at Liverpool has become a growing topic of interest across Europe, with Bayern Munich now exploring a potential move for the Colombian winger. The Bundesliga champions have added Diaz to their shortlist as they search for a top-tier left-sided forward.
Bayern Munich’s pursuit of a left winger remains active, and Luis Diaz is now firmly among the names being considered. The German club are understood to have completed their background work on the 28-year-old but, crucially, no direct talks with Liverpool have taken place yet.
According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, “Bayern are still looking for a top-class left winger, regardless of Nick Woltemade. They have gathered all the information on 28 y/o Díaz, but there have not yet been any talks with Liverpool. Understand Díaz could leave #LFC if a suitable offer arrives.”
That offer would need to be in the region of £75million for Liverpool to consider parting ways with the Colombian international. With two years remaining on his current contract and no plans for a new deal, Liverpool are open to letting him go if the valuation is met.
Diaz joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022 and has played a key role in the club’s attacking options under both Jürgen Klopp and current manager Arne Slot. Despite winning the Premier League in his debut season, Slot is overseeing subtle changes to the squad. The Colombian’s form has been steady, but Liverpool are keen to evolve their forward line further.
Internal discussions have highlighted the need to refresh the wide areas, particularly on the left. That stance is reinforced by the club’s interest in Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon, who came close to signing last summer. Gordon remains firmly on Liverpool’s radar ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Florian Wirtz, the club’s new record-breaking signing at £116million, is also expected to feature regularly from the left. His arrival significantly impacts Diaz’s standing in the squad and could make a summer departure more likely.
While Diaz’s situation is being monitored closely by Bayern Munich, the German club are still weighing up several alternatives. One such option was Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, although that move is now seen as far less likely due to its financial complexity and positional overlaps.
Bayern’s interest in Diaz is genuine, but whether it will progress beyond the current exploratory stage depends on both club finances and Liverpool’s willingness to engage. At this stage, there is no formal approach, but the groundwork has been laid for potential developments.
With the summer window approaching and key positions under review, Luis Diaz’s future at Anfield could be one of the defining narratives of the transfer market.
