The Belgian boss will be out of contract at the end of next season, having signed a three-year deal at the time of his appointment in 2024.

The Bavarians are acutely aware that this coincides with the end of Pep Guardiola’s contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Kompany is highly rated at Bayern and they are said to be desperate to tie him down to a new deal.

The 39-year-old has done an impressive job at the Allianz Arena, with his high-pressing, attacking style of play winning them the Bundesliga title in his debut campaign.

He has also been praised for his man-management skills and improving key players.

Kompany spent most of his playing career at City, where he made 360 appearances across all competitions and scored 20 goals.

The Belgian enjoyed a hugely successful time in Manchester, winning four Premier League titles, four EFL Cups and two FA Cups.

He transitioned to management after retirement and remained Anderlecht’s head coach for two seasons.

Kompany later joined Burnley and guided them to Premier League promotion with a record-breaking tally of 101 points. But he failed to keep them in the English top-flight the following season.

Many were not convinced when Bayern appointed the young tactician in the summer of 2024. But he proved all his doubters wrong with the Bundesliga success in his first season.
