Bayern Munich wonderkid Lennart Karl is facing a spell on the sidelines.

Ahead of Saturday’s Bundesliga clash against FC St. Pauli, the German champions confirmed that Karl has suffered a muscle fibre tear in the back of his right thigh.

At this stage, it is not yet clear how long the German international will be out of action.

The injury comes at an unfortunate time for Bayern in the middle of a packed schedule, with the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie against Real Madrid coming up on Wednesday.

After starring with a goal and an assist in Bayern's 3-2 win over Freiburg in the Bundesliga last week, Karl was an unused sub in Bayern's first-leg 2-1 win in Madrid.
