PSG have signaled in recent transfer windows that they’re focusing on top French talent, bringing in players like Bradley Barcola, Désiré Doué, and Lucas Chevalier.
That approach seems set to continue as the club looks to bolster its defense. While Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté has been linked as a potential target, PSG could shift its attention to another prominent French center back.
Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano, under contract until the 2025–26 season, has reportedly drawn interest from PSG. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reported that the club is closely monitoring Upamecano’s situation.
Romano suggested a move could be possible in the summer of 2026 if Upamecano chooses not to renew his deal with Bayern, potentially allowing a free transfer.
However, should he become available as a free agent, PSG would likely see him as a key defensive addition, though strong interest from other leading European clubs could make any deal difficult.

RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins reports that PSG plans to make an offer to Upamecano if he chooses not to extend his Bayern contract. Real Madrid has also contacted the player’s representatives. Bayern continue to negotiate with Upamecano’s camp, but no deal has been finalized.
Upamecano will be free to start negotiating a pre-contract with other clubs once 2026 begins. There’s also a chance that the French defender will finalize his next move before the FIFA World Cup kicks off next summer.
“I hope so,” Upamecano told L’Equipe (h/t Paris Fans) when talking about whether he intends to have his future settled by the World Cup. “My agent is handling it. We’ll make the right decision. I’m getting good advice. I’m focused on my season, on my club and national team goals. My mind isn’t on that right now.”
Moreover, the defender also discussed his current situation with Bayern Munich and whether he sees himself playing in France for PSG.
“I’ve always said I feel good at Bayern,” Upamecano added. “I have a great coach. I get along well with my teammates… I’m under contract with Bayern. I have goals. I’m very grateful if there are clubs interested in me.”
