A meeting has taken place in Munich between Bayern sporting director Max Eberl and Gordon Stipic, the agent of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guéhi, according to Florian Plettenberg. The England international is expected to leave Palace on a free transfer next year, with Bayern, Real Madrid and Liverpool all monitoring his situation closely.

Guéhi, alongside Nico Schlotterbeck, is said to be among Eberl’s preferred options, particularly if Dayot Upamecano declines to extend his deal or Min-jae Kim moves on. “FC Bayern are fully involved in the race,” Plettenberg reported, underlining how highly regarded Guéhi has become across Europe.

It marks another step in the growing interest surrounding one of the Premier League’s most consistent central defenders, whose maturity and positional awareness have caught the eye of elite clubs.
Marc Guéhi has been the cornerstone of Palace’s defensive solidity since arriving from Chelsea, and losing him on a free transfer feels like a significant setback. Fans will point to how vital he has been, not only for his defensive intelligence but also for the calm leadership he provides at the back.
Many supporters would feel frustration that Palace have not tied him down to a long-term extension earlier, knowing his value and potential suitors. Allowing his contract to reach this stage may ultimately cost the club both financially and competitively.
However, there is also a sense of pride among the fanbase. Seeing their player courted by clubs such as Bayern, Liverpool, and Real Madrid reflects the quality of scouting and development within the club. If Guéhi departs, Palace fans will hope the funds or savings from his exit are reinvested smartly, potentially strengthening multiple areas of the squad.
While the news may appear inevitable, the club’s next steps will define how effectively they move forward without one of their finest defenders in recent years.
