Bayern Munich have finalised an agreement with Maccabi Tel Aviv for the signing of goalkeeper Daniel Peretz, reports Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The negotiations with the Israeli club concluded with Bayern agreeing to pay a fee of €5 million plus add-ons.
The 23-year-old will travel to Munich for the medical tests this weekend and will pen a new five-year contract with the Bavarians.
Bayern were scouring the market extensively for a new keeper following Manuel Neuer’s injury and Yann Sommer’s departure to Inter Milan.
Giorgi Mamardashvili, Kepa Arrizabalaga, David Raya and David de Gea were linked with Bayern, but they have gone with Peretz.
The Israeli youngster will compete with Sven Ulreich to be the main man between the sticks at Bayern.
Ulreich has been serving as the first-choice keeper for the Bavarians since pre-season, featuring in the DFL Supercup final against RB Leipzig and last week’s Bundesliga opener against Werder Bremen.
Peretz is regarded as one of the most exciting talents in Europe after having grown in stature with Maccabi.
He recorded 25 clean sheets across all competitions for the Israeli outfit last season.
Peretz gained further attention following his stellar tournament at the 2023 European U21 Championships, where he was pivotal in Israel reaching the semi-finals.
The Israeli international will not be available for the weekend’s Bundesliga clash against Augsburg but could be in contention for the game against Borussia Monchengladbach.
It will be intriguing to see whether Thomas Tuchel will throw him into the starting XI ahead of Ulreich.
The Bundesliga champions started their title defence with a bang, registering an emphatic 4-0 victory over Bremen.
New signing Harry Kane wasted no time making his mark as he netted a goal and an assist.
