Paris Saint-Germain took a short-term approach with Xavi Simons by loaning him to RB Leipzig for another season. However, a more definitive decision regarding his future is anticipated next summer.
In September, journalist Christian Falk reported that Manchester City and Liverpool are keeping a close eye on Simons’ situation. Earlier in the summer, top clubs such as Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Manchester United also showed interest in the talented midfielder.
According to Sport Bild, Leipzig are eager to secure a permanent deal for Simons as early as January. Despite being under contract with PSG until 2027, the player reportedly has little interest in returning to Paris.
Leipzig face a significant hurdle in meeting PSG’s €80 million asking price, which might be beyond the German club’s financial reach. Meanwhile, The Athletic has named Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Real Madrid as the likeliest destinations for Simons.

According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, following Désiré Doué’s rejection, a clear plan was outlined internally. The priority, labeled as Plan A, is to target Florian Wirtz for a summer move.
If that fails, Plan B would involve making another attempt to sign Xavi Simons, who is currently sidelined with an injury. Simons remains a key figure on the radar, as Max Eberl is a big admirer of the player. Plettenberg adds that this stance has not changed.
CaughtOffside reported this month that Manchester United have a realistic shot at outmaneuvering local rivals Manchester City to secure Simons next summer.
