Bayern Munich XI vs Hamburg – Predicted lineup and team news

Bayern Munich make the trip to the Volksparkstadion on Saturday to take on Hamburg in league action.

Bayern’s momentum was checked last week when they fell to a shock 2-1 defeat at home to FC Augsburg, bringing an end to a 27-game unbeaten run in the Bundesliga and delivering a rare blow to the defending champions. They responded immediately in midweek, though, as Vincent Kompany’s men edged PSV Eindhoven 2-1 in the Champions League, clinching second place in the group and a direct passage into the round of 16.

Despite that setback against Augsburg, Bayern remain firmly in control of the title race, holding an eight-point cushion over Borussia Dortmund at the top of the table. Their away form has been particularly ruthless; the Bavarians have collected 25 points from a possible 27 across nine Bundesliga away fixtures this season, matching their own benchmark set in the 2012/13 campaign. Even more impressively, they have struck at least twice in each of their last 13 league outings on the road, something never previously achieved in Bundesliga history.

Bayern Munich team news

Konrad Laimer has been ruled out after tearing a muscle in his left calf during the 3-1 win against FC Köln, leaving him sidelined for an extended period.

There is, however, a significant boost in attack. Jamal Musiala returned to the starting lineup in the midweek clash with PSV, marking his comeback in style by scoring from a tight angle in the 2-1 victory. After the game, he admitted to being delighted but stressed the importance of his focus on what comes next, saying he was very happy with his goal and now wants to continue raising his level in the matches ahead.

Defensively, Bayern have also received encouraging news, with the club confirming that Raphaël Guerreiro, recovering from a calf issue, and Josip Stanišić, back from an ankle injury, are both fit again and in contention to be involved against Hamburg on Saturday.
