FC Bayern Munich head to the RheinEnergieSTADION to take on FC Köln in their upcoming Bundesliga clash on Wednesday evening.
Vincent Kompany’s outfit aim to extend their unbeaten league record in this fixture. The Bavarians delivered a stunning first-half campaign, amassing 44 points across 16 games and posting a +51 goal differential that eclipses the prior mark of +40 from 2021/22.
Victory in Cologne would equal Pep Guardiola’s 2013/14 benchmark of 47 points after 17 outings, cementing Bayern as the sole undefeated side among Europe’s elite five leagues this term.
Munich giants will have to make do without several key players for the trip to the RheinEnergieSTADION. Joshua Kimmich will miss the fixture as he continues his rehabilitation from an ankle injury, with the midfielder only recently completing individual training sessions at full pace.
Jamal Musiala’s recovery has progressed sufficiently to suggest he is approaching a return, but the game against Cologne comes too soon for the attacking midfielder. Josip Stanišić suffered a ligament injury to his right ankle in the dying moments of the Wolfsburg encounter and will be unavailable for selection.
Nicolas Jackson remains unavailable as he participates in the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal. Additionally, Serge Gnabry, Sacha Boey and Alphonso Davies were recently absent due to illness and remain doubtful for the match.
Possible Bayern Munich starting XI: Neuer; Laimer, Upamecano, Tah, Ito; Pavlovic, Goretzka; Olise, Karl, Diaz; Kane
The match will kick off at 7:30pm BST on Wednesday, 14th January.
