Bayern Munich are scheduled to face Schalke 04 in their next Bundesliga assignment on Saturday at the Veltins-Arena, just days before they open their UEFA Champions League campaign in midweek.
Vincent Kompany’s Bayern side have begun the 2026–27 season outstandingly, winning every competitive match so far. They lifted the DFL-Supercup with a 2-1 victory over rivals Borussia Dortmund to start the campaign, then produced a dominant 5-1 win against Stuttgart in their first league game. Most recently, they progressed comfortably in the DFB-Pokal, beating VfL Osnabrück 4-1 on Wednesday.
Bayern travel to Gelsenkirchen with encouraging news on Jamal Musiala. The key attacking midfielder has returned to full training after missing the early part of the season because of a neurological issue, and he has now passed his final fitness checks.
Even so, Kompany is likely to keep him among the substitutes at first, easing him back gradually and controlling his minutes.
Serge Gnabry is still unavailable. Although he has resumed individual work following an adductor problem, this match arrives too early for a comeback.
In Gnabry’s absence, Kompany is expected to field an energetic front three of Michael Olise, Ismael Saibari and Luis Díaz to back up striker Harry Kane.
At the back, Manuel Neuer remains the first-choice goalkeeper, with a defence that includes Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae.
Possible Bayern Munich starting XI: Neuer; Laimer, Upamecano, Kim, Brown; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Olise, Saibari, Diaz; Kane
The match will kick off at 5:30pm BST on Saturday, 5th September.
In the United Kingdom, the Schalke 04 vs Bayern Munich Bundesliga fixture will be shown live on Sky Sports Football.
