Vincent Komany’s Bayern Munich tenure has started off with three successive wins across all competitions, but a standout player for the Belgian coach is central-defender Kim Min-jae.
In Bayern’s 2-0 win against Freiburg on Sunday afternoon, the South Korean made 115 accurate passes, a record in the Bundesliga this season, as per WhoScored.
But it hasn’t all been plain sailing for the 27-year-old. Kim has started in each of the Rekordmeister’s three games this season and after a difficult start to life in Bavaria after joining Bayern from Napoli last summer, came under some criticism. The South Korea international was at fault for Wolfsburg’s second goal on the opening weekend but still, he remains an important player for Kompany.
However, although Bayern Munich will give Kim time to adapt, should he continue to underwhelm, then the record champions may need to address the issue in January or next summer.
An improvement against Freiburg, Kim must continue on an upward trajectory.
