Fabrizio Romano reports that Nestory Irankunda is set to join Watford from Bayern Munich for a reported €3m, plus a 50 percent sell-on clause and matching rights as part of the transfer. The 19-year-old, who spent the last six months on loan at Swiss side Grasshopper Zurich, will sign a four-year contract at the Championship club with a medical scheduled for Thursday.
It brings an end to Australian’s stay at Bayern Munich after joining the Bundesliga club from Adelaide United in July 2024, which saw the A-League side pocket a club record €900k transfer fee. Although Irankunda has a contract at Bayern until 2028, there’s little chance of any playing time at the Rekordmeister under Vincent Kompany, with the Bundesliga champions working on bringing Nick Woltemade to the club, as well as targeting a left-sided player.
There was reports suggesting that Irankunda would get an opportunity to prove himself to Bayern Munich at the FIFA Club World Cup, but that wasn’t the case.
