Sport Bild has estimated how much each Bundesliga coach is being paid, and to no surprise, Bayern Munich’s head coach is first.
Vincent Kompany is the highest-earning manager in the league, earning around €7-8m per year. While new Bayer Leverkusen head coach Erik ten Hag is second, earning around €5.5m per year.
Borussia Dortmund’s Niko Kovac earns €4m per year, and the fourth highest earner is Sebastian Hoeneß, who led Stuttgart to a DFB Pokal win this season and extended his contract back in the March international break. Hoeneß earns €3.5m.
The biggest surprise rounds out the top five with Borussia Mönchengladbach head coach Gerardo Seoane earning €3.2m. During the Swiss’ time at Borussia Park, Gladbach finished 14th and 10th. Seoane’s large salary may be one of the reasons why die Fohlen have chosen not to sack him yet.
Out of the new hires in the Bundesliga, Ole Werner earns the most (RB Leipzig, €2.5m), followed by Sandro Wagner (Augsburg, €1.6m), Paul Simonis (Wolfsburg, €1.5m), Lukas Kwasniok (1.FC Köln, €1.2m), and Horst Steffen (Werder Bremen, €1.1m).
Wagner, who recently left his role as Germany assistant head coach, will earn three times his salary with the DFB at Augsburg.
