Bayern Munich are said to be optimistic that Leroy Sané will reject the advances of Manchester United and stay at the club beyond the end of the season despite having to take a pay cut.
The current contract of Leroy Sané is set to expire at the end of the season and speculation surrounding his future continues to persist. The winger is said to be attracting the interest of Manchester United and Arsenal, who are looking to bring him back to the English Premier League.
But a contract extension with Bayern Munich appears to be the likeliest outcome, with Sky Sport reporting that both the club and the player are confident that an agreement will be struck in the coming months.
The report adds that the 28 year old would have to take a wage cut to stay at Bayern Munich, but both parties are keen to reach an agreement on a contract extension. The Bavarians are not expected to sell him in January, even if the two sides are unable to reach an agreement by then.
Sané is slowly but surely starting to find his form and has been showing encouraging signs of his quality in recent weeks. He has three goals to his name in 11 appearances this season (386 minutes of playing time), and has now also forced his way back into the Germany squad.
Competition for places is higher than ever in the Bayern Munich attack, but Leroy Sané is starting to stand out and was even hailed as a game-changer by head coach Vincent Kompany recently.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the former Schalke and Manchester City winger. But if he continues to perform as he has in recent weeks, he will have no shortage of options to choose from.
