Uli Hoeneß speaks out again with clear words on the current situation in Germany. The honorary president of FC Bayern clearly contradicts the widespread mood of crisis. He also makes it clear what is important now.
Uli Hoeneß is much more optimistic about developments in Germany than many other voices in the country. In particular, the long-serving Bayern boss sees the economic situation as less critical than is often portrayed, deliberately countering the general mood.
In an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the 74-year-old explained: „I am much more optimistic about Germany than most.“ At the same time, he expressed his conviction that „we are facing a good year.“

However, the Bayern patron’s optimism is linked to conditions. Above all, Hoeneß is calling for better cooperation within the federal government. He is particularly clear with regard to the SPD: The party left must „finally understand: If they don’t get involved in the democratic center, which we urgently need in this country, then they will go down just like the FDP.“
In his opinion, the economic situation of many companies is also assessed too negatively. Hoeneß emphasized that „far too much bad is being said“ in Germany. He sees no reason to panic even in the case of large corporations and explained with regard to Volkswagen: „When I hear that VW is a disaster – I don’t have the shares at the moment, but as long as they earn billions, it can’t be that bad.“
In addition to his analysis, the honorary president also made clear appeals to society. For him, one thing is certain: „This attitude must now return: roll up your sleeves and work.“ He also criticized demands for shorter working hours and called for more commitment instead. Specifically, Hoeneß even suggested: „That would be a suggestion for Verdi: our employees work two hours more per week – and for free.“
