Alejandro Grimaldo is currently one of the most sought-after full-backs in the Bundesliga and FC Bayern are now also looking closely at the left-back.
However, a possible transfer of the Leverkusen player to Munich could be more expensive than previously expected. According to transfer insider Ekrem Konur, Bayer Leverkusen are demanding „at least 25 to 30 million euros“ for the 30-year-old. Just a few weeks ago, there was talk of around 20 million euros in the Bild programme Bayern Insider. In addition to the German record champions, FC Barcelona and Manchester United are also said to be interested in the Spaniard.
Grimaldo is still under contract with the Werkself until 2027 and has impressed with consistently strong performances. His role as a free-kick expert and provider of assists has quickly made him a key player. The increasing number of interested parties could further strengthen Leverkusen’s position on the transfer market.

Grimaldo could take over Raphael Guerreiro’s position at FC Bayern. The Portuguese’s contract expires in the summer and an extension is considered unlikely. The 30-year-old would therefore be an experienced replacement for the Munich club.
However, the transfer of Jonathan Tah has already shown how hard Leverkusen can negotiate, especially with rivals, when it comes to transfer fees. In this case too, the club is likely to insist on a tidy sum – especially as Grimaldo’s market value is currently around 30 million euros. However, the fact that he reportedly only earns 4.5 million euros per year at Leverkusen could make the deal easier from Munich’s point of view.
Another factor: Grimaldo would already be 31 years old by the new season, which raises the question for Bayern as to whether a long-term investment in the Spaniard is worthwhile – especially in view of his age and the strategic direction of the squad.
However, one thing is clear: should the record champions decide to sign him, they would be getting a professional with international experience, strong technique and outstanding standard qualities. Whether the overall package is ultimately convincing will become clear in the coming weeks.
