Bayern star can’t get enough! Olise plays soccer even on vacation

Michael Olise is using his special leave after the World Cup to relax—but it seems the FC Bayern attacking star simply can’t go without soccer entirely. The Frenchman was recently spotted playing a spontaneous game in a park in New York.

After the intense weeks at the World Cup, during which Olise reached the semifinals with France and shone as the tournament’s top assist provider, FC Bayern granted him a few extra days off. Instead of returning directly to Munich, the 24-year-old is currently spending his vacation in the U.S.

But even far removed from his professional routine, Olise’s passion for soccer seems to be keeping him hooked.

A spontaneous game right in the heart of New York

A video is currently circulating on social media showing the forward playing in a so-called pickup game in a New York City park. These are spontaneously organized soccer games without fixed teams, coaches, or referees, in which anyone can participate.

What’s particularly noteworthy: The Bayern pro wasn’t wearing his training gear, but rather regular street clothes—and even no shoes. Everything suggests that Olise decided on the spur of the moment to join in on the casual game with the recreational players.

This scene shows once again just how important soccer is to the French national team player. Even during his well-deserved vacation, the star forward apparently seizes every opportunity to have the ball at his feet.

Return to Bayern not until after the Asian tour

Olise is taking his time before returning to Säbener Straße. Along with Harry Kane and Dayot Upamecano—who also played through the World Cup quarterfinals or beyond—the 24-year-old was granted special leave by FC Bayern.

According to recent media reports, Olise will not rejoin regular training until after the Munich team’s Asian tour. The team returns from South Korea and Hong Kong on August 8, and only then is the attacking player expected to rejoin the squad.

Until then, Olise seems to be staying in shape in his own unique way. The fact that he spontaneously joined a pickup game with amateur players in a New York park—even while on vacation—is sure to please many Bayern fans. After all, the scene shows that the Frenchman hasn’t lost any of his joy for the game, even away from his professional routine.
