Numerous contracts at FC Bayern expire in the summer of 2026 – including that of Serge Gnabry. The winger is one of the personnel issues that are keeping the record champions very busy. Now there are increasing indications of a possible extension.
FC Bayern’s personnel planning for 2026 is gathering pace. While numerous contracts are due to expire, the situation surrounding Serge Gnabry in particular is a topic of conversation. The 30-year-old has been in top form again this season, but his future in Munich remains uncertain. Now, however, there is some movement.
His advisor Thorsten Wirth recently fuelled the speculation himself. In the TOMorrow podcast, he enthused about the special bond between the player and the club: „His contract is coming to an end, but he feels very comfortable and is enjoying his time. Both sides know exactly what they mean to each other.“ Words that make you sit up and take notice – and suggest that an extension is by no means out of the question.
In fact, a clear trend now seems to be emerging at the German record champions. According to information from Sky, the club is increasingly working on a continuation of the collaboration. Reporter Florian Plettenberg even speaks of a „clear tendency towards an extension“. There is talk of an additional year, possibly even two – but only on the condition that Gnabry agrees to a significant reduction in his current annual salary. The DFB star is currently said to earn around 19 million euros.
Particularly interesting: According to Plettenberg, initial talks between the club and player are already underway and are set to be accelerated in the near future.

However, this race is not without competition for Munich. The attacking player has long since proven his market value internationally. According to various media reports, Juventus Turin and Liverpool FC are said to be keeping an eye on Gnabry. Both clubs are looking for flexible attacking players for the coming season – a profile that the Stuttgart-born player fits perfectly.
Gnabry himself is therefore in a comfortable starting position. He can calmly weigh up which sporting and financial prospects suit him best. There is also another crucial point: due to his expiring contract, the attacking player will be allowed to officially speak to other clubs from 1 January 2026 and even sign early.
