Javi Fernández could continue to gain match practice at 1. FC Nürnberg, which raises the question of what the future holds for the young midfielder at FC Bayern

FC Nuremberg said goodbye to eight players at their last home game against Schalke, and Fernández was not one of them. According to the club’s website, „the young midfielder is also planned for the coming season at FC Nuremberg“

However, it remains to be seen how he will stay. Another loan is possible, but a permanent transfer is also on the table. No decision has been made on this yet

The Spaniard only moved to Nuremberg from FC Bayern in the winter. He had previously extended his contract in Munich until 2028, but has yet to make an appearance for the German record champions. Fernández made seven league appearances for FCN in the second half of the season, most recently starting four times

His start at the club was initially slow. It took five weeks for Fernández to make his first appearance for Nuremberg. After several substitute appearances, however, the 19-year-old earned a place in the starting eleven and expressed his relief after the win against Magdeburg: „It was a difficult situation to start because I didn’t get any minutes.“

The Bayern loanee himself rated the development as „very important“. Fernández appeared much more satisfied with his situation after his first starting appearances. „I feel comfortable here,“ said the central midfielder

A longer stay in Nuremberg is apparently not out of the question either. Fernández was cautious, but deliberately left the door open: „I don’t know yet. There is the possibility of staying here longer. We’ll see what happens.“

Sporting director Joti Chatzialexiou had already indicated to BILD in the winter that the club was convinced of the signing: „People will perhaps understand in the summer why we brought him in“.
