FC Bayern are facing a decisive phase in the contract poker for Dayot Upamecano – and he now has one more option.
Transfer expert Fabrice Hawkins reports that Paris Saint-Germain are planning to make an offer for the French defender if he refuses to extend his contract with FC Bayern.
Background: Upamecano’s contract in Munich expires in the summer. The German record champions are still in talks with the 27-year-old’s advisors, but no agreement has yet been reached. According to Hawkins, Real Madrid are said to have already made contact with the player’s entourage in order to position themselves in the race for the centre-back.
Despite the international competition, FC Bayern remain optimistic. According to media reports, those responsible around Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are preparing a mega offer to tie Upamecano down long-term. A new five-year contract until 2031 with an annual salary of around 20 million euros is planned – a total package of around 100 million euros.
This would put Upamecano in the club’s salary elite, on a par with stars such as Joshua Kimmich or Manuel Neuer. Another factor: the Frenchman has developed into one of the best central defenders in Europe under coach Vincent Kompany. Munich are therefore hoping that the „Kompany effect“ will also help to convince the player to stay.

At the same time, it is clear that PSG are serious, with the club from the French capital seen as an attractive option for the international.
Bayern therefore know that the poker for Upamecano has not yet been decided. An extension remains the declared goal, but Real Madrid and PSG are increasing the pressure. Now it is up to the Munich officials to tie Upamecano down with a new contract.
