With Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain, the two best teams in Europe are likely to face off tonight. Both sides are trying to avoid the “favorite” label. However, a look at the stats shows that the German record champions currently have a slight edge.
Together with Sofascore and data provider Opta, we’ve put together an in-depth statistical comparison between Bayern and PSG that offers some interesting insights. The analysis shows that Munich have the upper hand in almost every area of the team — especially in attack and in goalkeeping.

While PSG have a solid but still relatively inexperienced keeper in Lucas Chevalier, Manuel Neuer once again proved why he’s been among the absolute elite for decades. Particularly impressive: Neuer concedes only 0.58 goals per game — a clear advantage over the Paris goalkeeper (0.93).
The difference is also clear in terms of efficiency: Neuer saves 75 percent of all shots, while Chevalier stops only 65 percent. The veteran also records almost the same number of saves per game (1.75 vs. 1.73). What’s more, Bayern keep a clean sheet more often (6 games, 50 percent) than PSG (7 games, 47 percent), underlining Munich’s defensive stability.

In midfield, it’s clear that FC Bayern have a more defined structure and better control of the game. Munich’s central midfielders average a rating of 7.29, while PSG’s quartet come in at 7.12.
Bayern’s midfield impresses with high precision (93.0 percent passing accuracy) and physical dominance (52.8 percent duels won). Paris may be slightly more creative in the final third (more big chances), but Munich are more effective and stable. This balance between structure and intensity could be a decisive advantage in the head-to-head matchup.
The picture is even clearer in attack: Bayern’s forwards have scored an impressive 41 goals and 18 assists — more than twice as many as PSG’s attack (14 goals, 7 assists).
Bayern’s attackers fire an average of 12.9 shots per game with a conversion rate of 21.2 percent, while Paris convert just 13.9 percent of their chances. Their dominance inside the penalty area is also obvious: Bayern average 21.8 touches per game in the box — a figure that speaks volumes about the team’s attacking presence and penetration.

PSG hold a slight edge defensively. Paris record more touches on the ball (256.9 vs. 232.3 per game) and commit fewer fouls (2.20 vs. 4.27). On the other hand, the German record champions lead in clearances (7.40 vs. 4.73), showing more presence in their own penalty area.
Here again, it’s clear that while PSG focus more on control and positional play, Bayern bring greater intensity and strength in tackles. The balance is especially interesting — Munich combine defensive activity with high attacking pressure, making them the more complete team overall.
The numbers show: FC Bayern enter the Champions League showdown against PSG full of confidence and backed by the wind of statistics. Munich lead in almost every key area — from buildup play to midfield and attack.
