Bayern Munich will make a late decision on Serge Gnabry’s involvement in Thursday’s Champions League opener against Bodø/Glimt, with the winger back in team training after an adductor injury in April.

Head coach Vincent Kompany said the call would come after training, adding there is a possibility Gnabry could feature, but only if he feels at his best.

He noted that if the comeback does not happen now it should follow soon, with Bayern keen for the 31-year-old to regain last season’s level, have him available across the season, and boost competition in attacking roles.

Jamal Musiala returned as a substitute in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Schalke 04, having missed previous matches after two collapses caused by absence seizures linked to a neurological condition during pre-season.

He is being built up after resuming work with the squad, has reported feeling good, and although Bayern are close to normality they intend to remain patient.
