FC Bayern beat Atalanta Bergamo 6-0 in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16. The Bayern stars in the FCBinside individual review.

Jonas Urbig: Set up Gnabry’s 3-0 with a precise long ball to preparer Olise. Didn’t have to make many saves, only dived attentively once. But Urbig exuded great confidence with the ball at his feet. Grade: 2

Josip Stanisic: Cleverly crept into the five-metre area and netted after a short corner and a pass from Gnabry. It was Stanisic’s first goal in the Champions League. Even after his goal, Stanisic continued to move forward and put pressure on the opponents. Grade: 2

Dayot Upamecano: Wasn’t really challenged by the Italian attack and had everything under control. Upamecano made one dangerous intervention in the attack in the first half: His hard low shot landed just wide of the post. Good game. Grade: 2

Jonathan Tah: There was no getting past Tah. The central defender impressed with his strong positioning and calmness in the build-up. Grade: 2

Konrad Laimer: Was outplayed or overrun a number of times on the left-hand side of defence. Looked rather hesitant, although Bayern actually dominated the game from the outset. Was substituted at the break. Mark: 4

Joshua Kimmich: Showed himself to be a committed leader, but was much more defensively-minded in the center than Pavlovic. Kimmich was in full control and cleared everything away on the six. Mark: 3

Aleksandar Pavlovic: Ran a lot, passed a lot and did a lot of things right overall. Pavlovic set the pace in Bayern’s central midfield. Fired a dangerous shot at the start of the second half that Carnesecchi could only clear for a corner. Grade: 2

Michael Olise: Had the first shot on goal for Bayern, but Atalanta goalkeeper Carnesecchi was able to hold. Shortly afterwards, Olise fired a free-kick just over the goal and then failed to beat the keeper again. The Frenchman then played the short corner to Gnabry, who then set up Stanisic to make it 1-0. Olise scored shortly afterwards in Robben style to make it 2-0 for FCB. He set up Gnabry’s 3-0 with a great pass into the box. Olise’s goal to make it 5-0 was a carbon copy of his first goal, crowning his fantastic game – a world-class performance! Grade: 1

Serge Gnabry: Prepared Stanisic’s 1-0 after a short corner with overview and composure. Gnabry finished super cool after Olise’s through pass to make it 3-0. In the first half, the international had two more chances: once he got stuck by the goalkeeper from close range, then his shot grazed the crossbar. Gnabry was very mobile in Bayern’s attacking center and made a lot of balls tight. He had to come off at half-time, but until then it was a very good performance. Together with Olise, Gnabry once again stood out from a magical Bayern team. Grade: 1

Luis Diaz: His perfect pass to Jackson deserved a goal, but the striker missed the ball alone in front of the goalkeeper. Later, the collaboration worked better: the Colombian set up Jackson for the 4-0. Diaz worked hard, caused chaos and could not be brought under control by the Atalanta defence. Grade: 2

Nicolas Jackson: Was nowhere to be seen for a long time in the first half. Then missed a great chance when he failed to beat keeper Carnesecchi after a great pass from Diaz. Jackson then volleyed just wide of the goal. At the start of the second half, Jackson burst into life and scored from Diaz’s pass to make it 4-0. Jackson set up Musiala to make it 6-0. A strong performance! Grade: 2

Substitute:

Jamal Musiala (45th for Gnabry): Had a good game. Musiala’s highlight was the goal to make it 6:0. mark: 2

Alphonso Davies (45th for Laimer): Set up Jackson’s 4-0 shortly after coming on with a dynamic run with the ball at his feet. Davies then secured the assist for Musiala’s goal to make it 6-0. Very bitter: The Canadian had to be substituted after 71 minutes due to injury. Grade: 2

Leon Goretzka (68th for Pavlovic): Played a solid game to the end, but was no longer noticeable. Grade: 3

Tom Bischof (71st for Davies): Had no more highlights, but didn’t make any more mistakes either. 3
