Yan Diomande looks more and more likely to be joining PSG – but that doesn’t necessarily mean Bradley Barcola will be leaving.

It’s not often that we get interesting fresh news about PSG from English sources, but today Nizaar Kinsella has dropped some really interesting claims for the BBC.

All the links to Yan Diomande in recent days led to the inevitable conclusion that, were he to arrive, Bradley Barcola would leave. It was assumed that he would want that, rather than being buried deeper on the bench, and that the club would want that, rather than having such a valuable asset left out.

PSG want to add to attacking arsenal

But according to Kinsella, that’s not the case. He says PSG are keen to extend the winger’s contract, even if they do complete a potential £129m deal for Diomande.

The fact that Kang-in Lee and Goncalo Ramos will both depart in the coming days makes keeping Barcola seem more sensible. A lot will depend on the Frenchman’s tolerance to remain an important player, but one who doesn’t start the very biggest games for Luis Enrique.

Given how successful the club are right now, it’s perfectly possible he can be persuaded to continue in that role.

In other news…

PSG are getting into gear to try and sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig, but they face a potentially brutal bidding war with Liverpool.

The latest generation of PSG starlets are leaving the academy, and it’s causing some worries in the French media.
