If a recent report from The Daily Record is believed to be true, Michael Beale is ready to change his stance in favour of striking a deal for Abdallah Sima. The Rangers boss earlier revealed a no-loan policy at Ibrox. But he is now willing to make a U-turn and rope in the Brighton & Hove Albion attacker.

The 22-year-old Senegal international progressed through the academy ranks of Medina back in his homeland. French side Thonon Évian spotted the youngster and added him to their academy setup. He then plied his trade in Czech club MAS Táborsko before grabbing attention for Slavia Prague. The Seagulls, known for their exquisite scouting network, secured his services a couple of summers back.

However, he spent the last two years out on loan with Stoke City and Angers. Although the latter got relegated from the French top division, Sima impressed with his flair and finesse in the attacking third.

Having said that, the Senegalese does not belong to Roberto De Zerbi’s first-team plans. He must seek another transfer for playing minutes and a move north of the border should help him flourish his skills high up the pitch. Sima was menacing down the right-hand flank during Slavia’s Europa League triumph against Rangers and Beale, who was assisting Steven Gerrard at that time, got impressed by his mastery as a wide forward.

Why Rangers Should Opt For Sima

Rangers have ample options high up the pitch but, at the same time, must seek reinforcements to resolve a few shortcomings. Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent have parted ways as free agents upon the expiration of their contracts, also, Malik Tillman’s return to Ibrox remains a doubt as per the latest rumours. Rabbi Matondo and Scott Wright are viewed as sporadic options and the gaffer, therefore, must decide whether to retain Antonio Colak following Sam Lammers’ arrival.

Colak had a blistering start to life with regular goals while spearheading the attack. But his style of play is not suitable for Beale’s free-flowing football. The Croatian hitman struggled for form during the second half of the 2022-23 season, whereas the persistent injury problems have refrained Kemar Roofe from earning a key status despite his prolific poaching attribute.

Sima is not an outright ‘number 9’ who would wait for passes and crosses inside the box. He is quite flexible across the frontline and his arrival would inject more firepower en route to reclaiming the Scottish crown from bitter rivals Celtic.
