‘Becoming Her: Before We Grow Up’: the new documentary from Juventus Creator Lab

The future of women's football has never felt closer, more global, or more inspiring. Juventus is proud to announce the arrival of ‘Becoming Her: Before We Grow Up’, a new original documentary produced by Juventus Creator Lab, which will premiere exclusively on Disney+ in September as part of the ESPN section.

The documentary offers a close-up look at a new generation of female footballers, following the stories and dreams of three young players whose journeys are distinct, yet deeply connected.

World premiere at the Giffoni Film Festival

Before its official streaming debut, the documentary will enjoy a prestigious world premiere. On 20 July, ‘Becoming Her: Before We Grow Up’ will be screened for the first time at the Giffoni Film Festival as part of the Special Event programme.

It’s the perfect stage for a story that speaks directly to young audiences, exploring ambition, challenges and personal growth. Guiding Italian viewers through the documentary will be acclaimed singer Francesca Michielin, a passionate Juventus supporter and long-standing advocate for female empowerment.

Three stories, one shared Bianconeri passion

The documentary connects three continents through a shared love of football and the Bianconeri colours, following the daily lives, training, and personal reflections of three promising young players:

Anna Copelli: A key figure in Juventus' youth academy who trains at the Allianz Training Center in Vinovo. The documentary begins with her 18th birthday celebrations, before a knee injury puts her resilience to the test, highlighting the strength of the team as both a community and a support network.
Sofia Cholovskaya: A talented player from the Juventus Academy in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, balancing school, friendships, and her dream of becoming a professional footballer.
Samantha Lee: From the Juventus Academy in Los Angeles, United States, Samantha combines her studies, creativity, and football, finding in the game the confidence and determination to overcome every challenge.

Through exclusive footage from Juventus Creator Lab and intimate interviews with the three players, the documentary showcases the Club's philosophy of supporting young footballers through the defining moments of their lives.

Football becomes a way to express themselves, shape their identities and imagine their futures, which is the very message at the heart of ‘Becoming Her: Before We Grow Up’.
