Bednarek a natural leader, Prpic will be important for Porto | OneFootball

Jan Bednarek is set to marshal Porto at the City Ground as they fight to stay in Europe and chase a first semi-final since 2010/11, when they won the Europa League with Villas-Boas in the dugout.

According to O Jogo, the Pole has 254 appearances for Southampton and is a seasoned campaigner in England. Croatian coach Bjelica, who led him at Lech Poznan, has spoken of him as a pillar of Porto’s defence.

Indispensable for Francesco Farioli, Bednarek is close to his most productive campaign. He has played 43 times this season and is closing in on his best tally of 47 for Southampton.

His experience of more than 200 games in England equips him to manage Nottingham Forest’s impetus and aggression.

Bednarek and Kiwior featured in the warm-up for Estoril v Porto.
