Bednarek returned to England and was sent off for the second time

Jan Bednarek was sent off in the opening minutes of Nottingham Forest-FC Porto, the second leg of the Europa League quarter-finals. The Polish centre-back was shown a red card following a challenge on Chris Wood, after the decision was confirmed by VAR, and at the age of 30, he was sent off for only the second time in his career.

The first came in February 2021, in a match between Manchester United and Southampton, the club he was representing at the time. Bednarek was given his marching orders in the 86th minute of a game that ended in a 9-0 win for the “Red Devils”. In that same match, he had scored an own goal in the 34th minute.
