League One side Bradford City are looking to bring in a new left-back ‘before the weekend’, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
Bradford grabbed third spot in League Two last season, edging out Walsall by just a point, to secure promotion up to the third tier.
Bantams boss Graham Alexander wants to make sure he has the squad needed to compete at the higher level and the club are active in the market.
Alexander wants to snap up left-back Ibou Touray, who was released by Stockport County at the end of his contract.
Bradford have held talks with the player, who previously played for and impressed Alexander at Salford City, and are now closing in on him.
It is suggested that Touray is now expected to sign for Bradford before the weekend.
Touray, 30, featured heavily for Stockport at League One level last season as he made 43 appearances for the club in the regular season.
The left-back, who is also capable of operating as a left-sided midfielder, did go into the referee’s notebook on a regular basis.
He found himself booked no fewer than 12 times across all competitions.
Touray started his career in the youth ranks at Premier League side Everton, but was forced to drop into non-league when he left the Toffees.
Salford City secured his signature in 2017 and he was on the books with the Ammies until 2023; he was voted Player of the Season at Salford in the 2019/20 campaign.
Touray, who joined Stockport in 2023, has been capped at senior international level by the Gambia and even turned out at the Africa Cup of Nations for the country.
Bradford will want to make full use of all his experience as they bid to make a mark at League One level following a lengthy absence.
