Bellegarde hits first Haiti goal on injury return | OneFootball

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde scored his first international goal as Haiti beat Costa Rica 2-0, continuing the Wolves midfielder’s comeback from injury.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wolves head coach Cesar Peixoto has spoken with Haiti boss David Badia Cequier to manage Bellegarde’s workload during the international period.

The 28-year-old fired Haiti ahead in the ninth minute from the edge of the box, then an own goal later secured the result.

It was his second outing of the international break after a substitute appearance against Trinidad and Tobago. He also featured in Wolves’ final two matches before the pause, including coming off the bench in the Black Country derby win over Albion.

Bellegarde represented Haiti at this summer’s World Cup. Haiti have won both of their opening Concacaf Nations League fixtures, with the Dominican Republic up next.

Elsewhere, Jordan James came on for Wales in their Nations League defeat to Denmark. The hosts had established a two-goal lead with strikes inside 13 second-half minutes before his introduction, and they held on. He had started their previous match against Portugal, facing former Wolves players Vitinha and Ruben Neves, but Wales were beaten then as well.

There was further international involvement for Wolves players, including Fer Lopez and Mateus Mane.
